No college experience is complete without a night out at each of Maryville's finest bars. Located in downtown Maryville and just a few blocks from Northwest Missouri State University are five bars that students have been talking about for years! All bars except for The Pub are 19 to enter, 21 to drink. Burny's Sports Bar, The Palms, The World Famous Outback, Molly's Party Club, and The Pub offer drink specials and music to suit all tastes.
Burny's Sports Bar, located at the corner of Market and Third Street, delivers a homey feel with country music, pool tables, jukebox, and beer. On Tuesday nights, Burny's is the place to go for Progressive Bottles. Get there at 8:00PM for the cheapest beer.
"I like to go to Burny's on Friday's and Saturday's because they move the pool tables out and have a dance floor. They play really good music and it's always a good time!" Ashley Arthur.
The Palms features an outdoor patio with a DJ and a second bar. Inside there are pool tables, arcade games, and a jukebox. The Palms is open Monday - Saturday for lunch. The menu offers typical bar food such as sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and more. The most popular night at The Palms is Wednesday night Mug Night. Beer-lovers can bring their own mug of any size and fill up with Natural Light beer for progressive prices starting at less than $1.00.
"The schooners and the outside patio area are both nice, but also the music they play is usually pretty good too." Jon Guyer
The World Famous Outback (which is not really world famous) Bar is located right next door to The Palms on Buchanan between Fourth and Fifth streets. The Outback is open Friday and Saturday nights at 9 PM. A $9 cover for guys, and $6 cover for girls will get you access to a huge dance floor, DJ, and bottomless mixed drinks, wells, and Miller Lite tap. Shots and drinks with Red Bull are only 50 cents each.
"I like the outback because if you play your cards right it's cheaper than drinking at home" said Kyle Andrew.
Molly's Party Club is a favorite on Thursday nights. A $9 cover for guys, and $6 cover for girls 21 and up will supply you with bottomless drinks all night, plus a DJ playing the hottest hip-hop and rap music from 7 PM until 1:30 AM. For minors 19 and up, the cover charge is $4. Cages, a stage, and a dance floor make this bar Maryville's hot spot for those who want to dance and drink the night away.
"I would definitely say [my favorite thing about Molly's is] just the atmosphere there. It's always fun and I see a lot of the same people," said Cody Spoon.
Recently re-opened, The Pub features a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere for those 21 and up. Specials include two-for-one pitchers and mixed drinks on Wednesday nights. The Pub is located on Main at Fourth Street. With the walls covered in sports memorabilia, The Pub is a popular hangout for a more mature crowd consisting of people who enjoy playing pool and just winding down after a long day.
"It's just a cool place to relax and hang out, have a cold beer, and play some pool," said Dave Morgan.
For whatever mood you are in, there is always a place to go hangout and unwind in Maryville. Remember to take your Northwest Student ID to get a free, sober ride home from Safe Ride's on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 PM - 4 AM.
