Painting pottery isn't just for kids anymore. This pastime memory for many is now one of the latest crazes for people of all ages. Take a little time out to fire up your creative side and head to Mudders and Potters in St Joseph, Mo.

Once inside the colorfully painted walls, customers can choose from an array of pre-made ceramic pieces. Options are endless with piggy banks, picture frames, dishes, trinket boxes and more to choose from. After the grueling selection, artists choose their paint before sitting down at a table.

To get the painted bisque pieces to shine, Mudders and Potters employees leave them to glaze and fire in the kiln. The completed ceramic pieces are usually ready for pick up the following week. Mudders and Potters offers an affordable experience for any budget. There is an automatic $7 studio fee for paint, glaze, and firing of the pieces. Pre-made ceramic pieces range from $2 to $35.

"We always have a lot of people come in before holidays," Stacy Furbee, employee said. "It's always more meaningful when you make something."

Mudders and Potters isn't just a great creative outlet, but also a different approach to socializing with friends. They often hold birthday parties and bachelorette parties, allowing guests to bring food and drinks to celebrate. Beginning in May, Mudders and Potters will host Wednesday evening "Ladies Night."

"We'll provide food and the women can bring their beverages," Furbee said. Mudders and Potters offers an affordable experience on any budget. Whether you want to create a one-of-a-kind gift or just brush up on old painting techniques, look for Mudders and Potters during the drive through St. Joseph.
