High walls enclose your dinner party in the booth-style seating that allows for a private, intimate atmosphere. A well-dressed pianist entertains guests with soothing sounds from the non-revolving lounge area. Empty-stomach customers are formally greeted by friendly employees and led to their booths and candle-lit tables.

Skies revolving restaurant in Kansas City, Mo. is the perfect place to treat that significant other this Valentine's Day. The remarkable view and atmosphere are definite highlights of the dining experience. Some of Kansas City's largest hot spots can be seen from Skies' 72 windows, including Power and Light District, Bartle Hall, Truman Sports Complex and the Sprint Center.

"You can tell it's pretty high class as soon as you get off the elevator," Brett Read, Skies customer said. "The hosts and hostesses are waiting for you when you step off the elevator. They talk to you for a little bit rather than just set you down as soon as you get there."

Waiting patiently for the appetizer, I take in the changing view that's slowly spinning as I decide on a glass of Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon from the extensive wine menu.

My crab cakes arrive as I put in my order from the smaller, but tasteful menu. I order a bacon-wrapped chicken breast stuffed with spinach and goat cheese, topped with mushroom sauce, served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Crispy on the outside with a tender inside, tomatoes and cucumbers add a flavorful crunch. The chicken came out and appeared to be something from the Food Network.

A plate all about presentation, the taste of the food didn't lack in comparison and was prepared as well as the crab cakes.

"The waiters and waitresses are on a continuous time limit," Read said. "The appetizers have to be served a certain amount of time before the main courses come out, and they have to come back to your table soon after you're seated."

Skies is a true upscale place that will tempt your palette with meals quite the opposite of burgers and fries. The most inexpensive entrée is $24 with a similarly priced drink menu. With a sense of affluence as you step off the elevator, it's definitely a good splurge for the romantic Saturday night coming up.

"I've always had good experiences," Read said. "It never takes a long time to get food, even if they're really busy."

Overall it was a great experience, and a top recommendation to break the monotony of normal restaurants.

Reservations are recommended and $5 valet parking is also offered. For more information visit www.hyattkc.com/skies.
