For a romantic 'out of this world' eatery, try Scarlet Orchid Restaurant. Scarlet Orchid is a homemade pan-Asian and international cuisine restaurant located 41 miles southwest of Kansas City, Mo., at 2223 Lousiana St., in Lawrence, Kan.
The restaurant's Chef Ling is known for serving incredible Pumpkin Stewed Curry Beef or Chicken and some very good vegetable meals such as the Scarlet Phad Thai. The Scarlet Phad Thail is noodles with julienned scallions and sprouts followed with coarse peanut crumbs.
The most popular dishes ordered are chicken dishes, according to host Zach Stoltenberg. And with all lunch meals, a side of jasmine steamed rice is included. A typical price range for a meal is $15 to $20.
Scarlet Orchid is open everyday of the week. Thursday through Saturday are their busiest days because these are the nights when live musicians such as Pianists and Spanish Baroque Guitarists perform.
Reservations are not necessary unless there are 4 or more people, said Stoltenberg. But they are never a bad idea especially on the weekends.
