The Appeal of Car Shows
Past, Present, and Future
Adam Hobbs
The roar of a 1940 Chevrolet Coupe as it rolls into place to be judged is priceless. Car shows are where car enthusiasts come to prove they are the best.
Car shows have been popular around the world since the creation of the first car. Today's generation of cars are popularly categorized into three distinct sections.
The Classical Car Era started in 1890 and traveled through until 1970. Some of the most popular classical cars are the 1955 Chevrolet Nomad and the 1935 Plymouth. Those cars are worshiped because of their classical sleek style and simplicity.
The Classical Sport cars of the day are 1965 Mustang and 1964 Pontiac GTO. Those cars weren't just for show, they were built for power and dominance.
Exotic cars, mostly popular in Europe, are more modern and intuitive. Ferrari, Lotus, and Porsche are a few of the most popular exotic cars today. Because they were built for speed and design, these cars are the dominating forces on the road and make a pretty big dent in your pocket book.
The Midwest is heavily populated with the Classical Era. From Missouri to Iowa, and Nebraska to Kansas, car shows appear in almost every part of the state.
