Fifteen miles away from Kansas City, Mo., lays a cozy getaway that has all the appeal of a country town that has been passed by time while nestled next to the Missouri River.

This small town has attractions that would make any visitor feel as if they were in Mayberry. Old fashion wrought-iron street lights, a barely paved Main Street, and a bountiful selection of handmade goods and crafters welcome visitors to Weston. This little treasure of a town is perfect for getting away from a day-to-day regimen and settling into a simpler time. On your visit, a sense of nostalgia and down-home Missouri comfort await your every step.

Dining:

Weston's charming Main Street has many places to dine and drink.

While is Weston, you must visit the Pirtle Winery. This is hometown wine making at its absolute best. The winery is located in a former Lutheran church and all of the process takes place on the first floor. Pirtle offers wine tasting with many types of bread, cheeses, and various appetizers that compliment the wine. Pirtle is located at 502 Spring St.

If you're looking for casual dining spots, O'Malley's American Bowman Restaurant is most notable in Weston. The restaurant allows customers to dine in one of three dining rooms Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant's renowned menu has many different Irish delights, such as the cheddar and ale soup that many locals say is a "must try." O'Malley's is located at 540 Welt St..

If you're looking for formal dining, The Vineyards is a place you will surely want to visit. Reservations are strongly suggested and guests are open to dine Wednesday through Sunday. This restaurant offers a chic menu of lamb, duck, veal, and the "house favorite," filet of beef. The Vineyards also offers a fine wine list with many local wines from Pirtle Winery. The Vineyards is open Wednesday through Sunday and is located 505 Spring Street.

There are many options of things to do in Weston for both young and old.

Vaughn's Apple Orchard brings fun for visitors of all ages. The best time to visit is late September through the October. There is a country store with everything from apple butter to apple home decor. They also offer samples. You can also purchase desserts including homemade caramel apples and apple sundaes. If you're more adventurous, picking apples to take home is a perfect option for you. They are noted to be some of the "best ever tasted". In October, the orchard hosts haunted hayrides and haunted barns for the fearless little ones.

Another outdoor place to visit is the Red Barn Farm. The best time to visit is October. This charming fully functioning farm offers a full day of adventure. During a visit, you can pick seasonally grown crops, visit the farm animals, or shop at the country store.

In October the farm offers a Fall Pumpkin Festival. Families can take a hayride to pick the "perfect pumpkin." Field trips are also encouraged to the site. The farm relishes in giving younger children the chance to take authentic hayrides and educational programming they offer teaches children about life on a farm.

Looking for something more grown up? Then Weston's antique shopping experience is for you. Main Street offers unique shops that are truly special to Weston. If you are an antique enthusiast, this is just the place you can shop for trinkets or furniture.

In the way of home decor, Acorns Antique and Gathering, has a plethora of accents pieces, furniture, and place settings that would add a sense of warmth and elegance to your home. Located at 408 Main St., Acorns Antique and Gathering is truly an inviting store to shop.

Another place that you may stop on your visit is Rose Marie's because it offers antiques as well as a selection of organic and specialty foods displayed in an old-time fashion. When walking into this store you will feel as if you are visiting a general store from days long passed. Rose Marie's is located at 521 Main St., and offers an array of things that are "must sees."

Weston is known for their quaint bed and breakfast's located throughout the historic town.

The Benner House is a charming bed and breakfast with a Queen Anne style residence. A visit to this bed and breakfast would make a perfect romantic getaway with its romantic ambience. The Benner House will make your breakfast dining experience just as romantic as the rest of the house by offering candle lit meal with a jazz band to accompany. The Benner House is just minutes away from the many attractions Weston has to offer.
